COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team will have a new home for the 2009 season and it is beginning to take shape.

On May 19, Lindsey Wilson College broke ground on a baseball-softball complex located on land adjacent to the Louie B. Nunn Parkway. Today -- what was once a field and piles of dirt -- a baseball field is taking shape.

"It's exciting to see the progress and how the field is taking shape," Lindsey Wilson baseball coach Mike Talley said. "When this complex is completed it will be one of the finest in the area and we will be thrilled to call it home.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College will hold a memorial service on campus this fall for a student who died early Tuesday morning while on vacation in South Carolina.

Daniel Rector, 22, of Richmond, Ky., fell from a 10th-floor balcony onto a fifth-floor parking deck early in the morning at a Myrtle Beach, S.C., hotel, according to local police.

Rector was sitting on a wall outside his room when he leaned back, as if he were looking at something, and accidentally fell to his death, according to the police report.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team's season ended today in the Mid-South Conference Tournament hosted by Georgetown (Ky.) College.

The Blue Raiders lost 10-1 to top-seeded University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) to finish the season 19-30. Cumberlands advances to Saturday's elimination game against the loser of Georgetown and Campbellsville (Ky.) University in tonight's winner's bracket game.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team lost their opening round game of the Mid-South Conference Tournament 3-0 to host Georgetown (Ky.) College today at Robert Wilson Field.

The fifth-seeded Blue Raiders (19-29) face top-seeded University of the Cumberlands -- who lost to Pikeville (Ky.) College 4-2 on Thursday -- at 10 a.m. CT on Friday in an elimination game of the double-elimination tournament.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team dropped a doubleheader to visiting Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University today at Raider Field.

The Blue Raiders drop to 19-26 overall this season with the 3-2 and 6-4 losses. Freed-Hardman improves to 29-11 with the wins.
