COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College freshman outside hitter Mirjam Pfyl was named to the 2008 Volleyball Southeast Region Team by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday.
Pfyl, a Schindellegi, Switzerland, native, is the only Blue Raider placed on the 14-person all-region team.
In her first collegiate season, Pfyl recorded 488 kills which placed her sixth on the program's all-time single season kills list. She also cracked the program's top 10 with 443 digs (7th) and the tallied 57 service aces (10th).
COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team received 83 votes in the final NAIA National Coaches' Poll of the season released today. The Blue Raiders just missed an at-large bid into the NAIA National Tournament.
Lindsey Wilson (28-9) upset then ranked-No. 20 Campbellsville (Ky.) University last week to reach the Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship. In the championship match the Blue Raiders were defeated by No. 6-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) College.
It was a record setting year for Lindsey Wilson as a team and as individuals.
FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team was swept by No. 6-ranked Georgetown (Ky.) College in the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship match tonight at the Frankfort Civic Center.
Lindsey Wilson (28-9) must now wait for the final NAIA National Rankings of the season on Sunday for a chance to be an at large team and compete in the National Tournament.
Georgetown (33-6) controlled the match from game one winning 25-19, 25-17 and 25-22.
FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team upset No. 20 Campbellsville (Ky.) University in the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals today at the Frankfort Civic Center.
The Blue Raiders needed five games to advance to the conference final 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 20-25 and 15-12.
The Blue Raiders improve to 28-8 on the season. The 28 wins are second most during a single season in the program's history. They trail only the 1999 team who recorded 33 victories.
COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team swept West Virginia Tech today in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (27-8) opened game one with a 7-0 run and never looked back the entire match. Lindsey Wilson won the three games convincingly, 25-12, 25-13 and 25-13.
Freshman Mirjam Pfyl led Lindsey Wilson with 11 kills for the match. The reigning MSC Player of the Week leads the team with 460 kills on the season.
