[Tennis] Away Tennis Matches Postponed

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis matches originally scheduled for 3 p.m. CT Wednesday, February 27 against Bluefield College in Georgetown, Ky. have been postponed due to inclement weather.

The matches have been rescheduled to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 19 in Georgetown.

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Winners of three of the four regional championships, members of the Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis teams found out their competition at nationals this week with the release of the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships draw, by ITA officials on Monday.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson College won three of the four available championships at the ITA Small-College Southeast Regional on Saturday as the men won the singles and doubles title and the women earned the doubles championship.

"Saturday went about as well as we could have hoped for," said Blue Raider head coach Sachin Kirtane. "Fernando (Bogajo) was great all weekend, getting through a very tough bracket. And Gilles (Cornelis) and Fabricio (Morales) played great tennis to win the doubles title.

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The 2012-13 tennis season gets its official start on Thursday with the ITA Small College Regional Championships. Lindsey Wilson College's men and women are set to play in the southeast regional hosted by Georgetown College on Sept. 27-29.

Thursday's matches will be played at the University of Kentucky indoor facility due to inclement weather.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Sachin Kirtane has been named the head men's and women's tennis coach at Lindsey Wilson College, athletic director Willis Pooler announced on Tuesday.

Kirtane takes over the Blue Raider programs after spending 10 seasons as the head tennis coach at Northern Iowa University.

MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's tennis teams open the NAIA National Championships on Tuesday at the Mobile Tennis Center.

The No. 11-seeded Blue Raider women (15-3) open the 24-team tournament at 9 a.m. CT against No. 22-seed Spring Hill (Ala.) College. The Lindsey Wilson and Spring Hill winner advances to Wednesday's second round against sixth-seeded Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) University.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- First-year Lindsey Wilson College tennis coach Daniel Finn released the 2012 dual-match schedule for the men and women Blue Raiders on Wednesday.

The two programs are scheduled to play a combined five NCAA Div. I teams, numerous NCAA Div. II schools and a combined seven teams ranked in the final NAIA rankings of 2011.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Three Lindsey Wilson College individuals were ranked in the top 35 and a pair of doubles' teams received top-10 rankings in the initial Campbell's/ITA NAIA College Tennis Rankings of the 2011-12 season, officials from the association announced on Tuesday.

Senior Trina Slapeka received the highest ranking at No. 3 in the nation and first in the women's NAIA East Region.

MOBILE, Ala. -- Trina Slapeka and Fernando Bogajo each brought home a third-place finish in singles' play at the ITA Small College Tennis Championships at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., on Saturday.

For the senior Slapeka it was her best finish ever in the small-college event, topping Marie Boura from Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University 6-4, 6-2. The win came on the heels of Slapeka also finishing fifth in the doubles' bracket playing alongside Laura Vergara on Friday.

MOBILE, Ala. -- Both Trina Slapeka and Fernando Bogajo of Lindsey Wilson College lost in the quarterfinals of their respective singles' brackets on Friday in the ITA Small College Tennis Championships at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., but a third-place finish is still possible as play resumes on Saturday.

The Blue Raiders' lone doubles' entry of Slapeka and Laura Vergara did finish fifth in the women's bracket, beating Aurelie Hascoet and Aziza Butoyi of Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University 7-5, 6-4.

MOBILE, Ala. -- Both Fernando Bogajo and Trina Slapeka earned wins in the first round of the ITA Small College Tennis Championships in the singles' bracket on Thursday at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala., and advance to take on the top seed of the men's and women's draw on Friday.

Bogajo beat Vladislav Khudziy from Huntington College in opening-round play 6-2, 7-5 after trailing 4-1 in the second set before rallying back to earn the win.

OWENSBORO, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College tennis teams came away with three of the four available titles at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships over the weekend hosted by Brescia (Ky.) University in Owensboro, Ky.

Fernando Bogajo won the men's singles' championship and Trina Slapeka was the women's winner, while also teaming with Laura Vergara for the doubles' title.
