[Golf] Burnett, Joslyn Earns Academic Conference Honors

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- A pair of Lindsey Wilson golfers earned Mid-South Conference honors, according to conference officials on Sunday.

Ryne Burnett earned Academic All Mid-South Conference honors for the men's golf team while Kelsey Joslyn earned conference academic honors for the Blue Raider women's golf team.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Krista Burton has been hired as Lindsey Wilson College men and women's golf assistant coach, Blue Raider head coach Shaun Cozart announced on Friday.

Burton returns to Lindsey Wilson after a standout collegiate career, including winning the 2007 NAIA women's golf individual national championship.

For the Blue Raider women, today's round marks the 2012-13 season opener. The Lindsey Wilson men participate in their second tournament of the season as they begin play this afternoon.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Mid-South Conference Golf Championship begins on Monday at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood. The tournament is hosted by St. Catharine (Ky.) College and sponsored by Lee's Famous Recipe of Bardstown.

Defending conference champion on the women's side, Lindsey Wilson College, is ranked 17th heading into the tournament, while the Blue Raider men finished second last season and enter the championship unranked.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Shaun Cozart has been named head golf coach at Lindsey Wilson College, athletic director Willis Pooler announced on Wednesday.

Cozart becomes head coach of the men's and women's golf programs after serving as The Pines at Lindsey Wilson's Clubhouse Golf Pro and Assistant Director of Golf Operations for the last six months.

"Shaun is the logical choice to take over our golf programs following the decision to split the head golf coach and director of golf operations positions," Pooler said. "I'm confident in Shaun's knowledge of the game and his ability to lead our nationally prominent programs.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- James England has been named the men's and women's golf coach at Lindsey Wilson College, the school announced on Tuesday.

Prior to taking over the Blue Raider programs, England served as a sales representative at Golf Headquarters in Louisville, Ky., while also managing his own golf club making and fitting business.

England is a graduate of Lindsey Wilson where he was a student-athlete on the men's golf team for one season. The Albany, Ky., native also completed portions of his degree at the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men�s and women�s golf teams earned nation rankings in the first NAIA poll of the season released today by the NAIA.

The Lindsey Wilson College women received 273 points from the 13 region raters to earn a No. 4 ranking. The Blue Raider men received 108 points and are No. 17 in the first regular season poll.

LONDON, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team won the team's season opener and the men finished third today at the University of the Cumberlands Fall Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Community.

The Lindsey Wilson women shot a two-day team-total of 648 (326-322) over the par-73, 5,989-yard Crooked Creek layout. Georgetown (Ky.) College finished second with a team-total of 672 (332-340) and Campbellsville (Ky.) University ended in third with a 682 (340-342).

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College men's golfer Abraham Gali, and women's golfer Krista Burton were honored as this weeks Men's and Women's Golf Player's of the Week according to the conference.

Sophomore Abraham Gali, a Hernandarias, Paraguay, native, shot an Even 72 on Saturday and a 71 on Sunday to shoot a 1-under par 143 at Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, Kentucky. Gali finished third in the Southeastern Kentucky Intercollegiate hosted by the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).

The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team earned a No. 4 ranking following an undefeated fall season, while the men received votes and are sitting just outside the top-25.
