Corey Ruff begins his fourth season as the Lindsey Wilson College wrestling coach in 2012-13 after creating the program from scratch in 2009-10.
In just three seasons, Ruff has taken Lindsey Wilson wrestling to national prominence -- including a fourth place finish at the 2012 NAIA Wrestling National Championships.
During his first two seasons, Ruff guided the Blue Raiders to a 27th and 15th place finish.
In addition to his team's success, Ruff recruited and coached the first Lindsey Wilson wrestling NAIA individual national champion in 2011-12. Ruff's team placed three individuals in the championship match at the 2012 national championships.
In all, Ruff has coached 36 grapplers at the NAIA National Championships. His overall dual record is 17-16 in three seasons.
In 2011-12, Ruff coached five NAIA All-Americans raising his career total to seven in three seasons. He has also coached seven All Mid-South Conference performers and one MSC Wrestler of the Year.
Prior to starting the program at Lindsey Wilson, Ruff served as assistant coach at Ellsworth Community College for two seasons. He was also a member of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's coaching staff from 2003-06.
During his time at Ellsworth and Wisconsin-La Crosse, Ruff helped coach four national champions, 24 All-Americans, 19 regional champions and 40 national qualifiers.
While at Wisconsin-La Crosse, Ruff helped the team improve its national tournament finish each of the three seasons he was on staff. In 2004-05, UW-La Crosse finished as national runner-up in the NCAA Division III National Championships.
At Ellsworth, Ruff helped the team to a fifth-place finish in 2007-08.
Before his collegiate coaching career, Ruff spent four years as the assistant coach at Arcadia High School in Wisconsin. While at Arcadia he led the strength and conditioning program and assisted in all other aspects of the team.
Ruff graduated from Buena Vista University in 2008.
