Edwin Hagans - Head Coach

Coach Edwin Hagans begins his third season in 2007-08 as cross country and track & field coach at Lindsey Wilson College.

In his first two seasons as cross country coach, Hagans has turned the Blue Raiders into one of the top programs in the Mid-South Conference. The women’s team captured the program’s first Mid-South Conference championship in 2006 and the men’s team has earned second and third place finishes the last two seasons.

Hagans owns three MSC Coach of the Year awards in his short tenure. He was named MSC Women's Cross Country Co-Coach of the Year in 2005 and was named men’s and women’s MSC Coach of the Year in 2006, as voted by his peers.

Under Hagans' direction, five men and five women harriers earned all-conference honors. Hagans has also directed one NAIA All-American.

During the spring season, Hagans leads the indoor and outdoor track and field teams.

The Blue Raiders have scored in each of the last two indoor and outdoor national championships. The Lindsey Wilson men’s track & field team finished a team-best 20th in the 2006 outdoor national championships.

Hagans has been named MSC Coach of the Year in women's track & field twice and men’s track & field once. He has coached 14 all-conference selections, including a player of the year and nine NAIA All-Americans.

Prior to Lindsey Wilson, Hagans served as an assistant coach in track and field at Berea (Ky.) College. While an assistant coach at Berea, Hagans coached six track and field national championship participants. Two became All-Americans, one was a two-time national champion, and one was an All-American in two events.

Prior to his coaching career, Hagans was a four-year letter winner in track as an undergraduate. He earned All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles in 1995 and was selected Most Valuable Track and Field Athlete at Berea College in three of his four seasons.

Aside from his coaching, Hagans served as a professor of fitness and wellness at Eastern Kentucky University while earning his Masters of Science in sports administration. Hagans was also a personal trainer in Orlando, Florida.

Hagans and his wife, Mandy, reside in Columbia and have one son, Adin.
