Andy Cavins begins his second season as the head volleyball coach at Lindsey Wilson College in 2012-13.
Cavins led Lindsey Wilson to its best season in the program's history in 2011.
The Blue Raiders recorded a 31-3 record in Cavins' first season en route to winning the program's first Mid-South Conference regular season and tournament titles. Cavins also led Lindsey Wilson to its first NAIA Volleyball National Tournament.
During his inaugural season at Lindsey Wilson, Cavins led the Blue Raiders to a program-best 20 match winning streak. The Blue Raiders also recorded a program-high .250 hitting percentage in 2011.
Prior to Lindsey Wilson, Cavins spent two seasons as head coach at NCAA Div. III LeTourneau (Texas) University. He is a former assistant coach at the University of Georgia.
At LeTourneau, Cavins took over for a program that had just completed a 2-28 season with no conference wins in 2008. During Cavin's tenure, the team compiled the most wins in the program's history over a two-year span.
Cavins' team amassed a 3.23 cumulative grade point average -- the highest of any sport on the LeTourneau campus. His team also concluded the season with five all-conference players, including the American Southwest Conference sportsmanship award winner.
As an assistant at Georgia, Cavins was part of a staff that inherited a Bulldog team that had finished 6-25 in the season prior to their arrival. Cavins helped Georgia to a 17-13 record in his first season with the Bulldogs and had a First Team All-Southeastern Conference performer and a First Team All-SEC Freshman team selection.
Cavins' main responsibilities at Georgia included on-court development, recruiting coordinator and camp director. As a staff, Georgia was able to sign a Top-50 recruiting class that included the nation's second-ranked setter.
Cavins -- a former NCAA Division I baseball student-athlete at Baylor University -- also used his time on campus to serve as a student assistant for the Baylor volleyball team. Cavins participated as a practice player, on-court trainer and facility manager.
In addition to his collegiate coaching, Cavins coached at the Dallas Premier and Dallas Summit Volleyball Clubs.
Including his work at the Dallas club, Cavins also has coached in the Georgia Juniors Volleyball Club -- where he was co-director and 18's Open coach. He also worked with the Dallas Juniors Volleyball Club and the Addison Boy's Volleyball Club.
Cavins also enjoys experience as a volleyball camp director at every level. He has led six different high-school camps, the Fort Worth YMCA camp, and camps at Southern Methodist University, Baylor, Georgia and Letourneau.
Cavins graduated from Baylor University in 2004 and later completed his master's degree at Georgia in 2009. He and his wife Jessica reside in Columbia.
