Head Coach - 2nd Season

Jonathan Burton begins his second season as the Lindsey Wilson College baseball head coach in 2012-13.

Burton led the Blue Raiders to a program-record 43 wins in 2012 and the program's first Mid-South Conference regular season title and first trip to the NAIA National Tournament.

Burton was selected by his peers as the 2012 MSC Baseball Coach of the Year after leading the Blue Raiders to the regular season crown and the top-seed in the MSC Tournament.

In his first game as Lindsey Wilson coach, Burton led the Blue Raiders to a 9-1 win over No. 8-ranked Faulkner University in the first of a doubleheader sweep of the Eagles. The win was Burton's 100th of his head coaching career.

Prior to taking over the Blue Raider program, Burton spent three seasons at Trevecca Nazarene University where he compiled a 99-68 overall record, including a 35-22 record in 2011. Prior to becoming the head coach, Burton spent four seasons as the Trojans assistant coach.

At Trevecca Nazarene, Burton guided the Trojans to a pair of TranSouth Conference Tournament runner-up finishes and was named the 2011 TranSouth Conference Coach of the Year after leading his team to an 18-6 TSC record.

During his coaching career, Burton has recruited and coached two conference Player of the Years, 13 first team all-conference, nine second team all-conference and 31 academic all-conference selections. Nationally, he has coached an NAIA First Team All-American, two Honorable Mention All-Americans and seven NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In addition to conference and national honors, three of Burton's players have been drafted -- Tim Dunn by the Reds in 2009 and P.J. Francescon by the Cubs and Craig Stem by the Dodgers in 2011.

Besides coaching at Lindsey Wilson and Trevecca, Burton coached three summers for the Nashville Trojans and one summer for the Sandlot Wood Bat League.

As a student-athlete, Burton amassed a 16-10 record with a 3.78 earned run average while playing at Volunteer State Community College and later at Trevecca. He was awarded the coaches' award in 2002 and 2004 and was a member of team that broke the school record with 44 wins in 2004.

Burton graduated from Trevecca Nazarene in 2004 and later completed his master's degree in sports administration from Tennessee State University in 2007. Burton is married to the former Amanda Spry.
