Head Coach - 6th Season

David Grigsby begins his sixth season as the Lindsey Wilson College cycling head coach in 2012-13.

Grigsby led the Blue Raiders to the inaugural USA Cycling BMX National Championship in 2012 while coaching a pair of individual national champions during the 2011-12 season.

The Blue Raiders finished 2011-12 ranked fourth in the USC Cycling Division I national ranking. Lindsey Wilson scored in all four disciplines to reach No. 4. The rankings combine each of the four disciplines -- mountain bike, track, cyclo-cross and road -- to determine an overall national champion.

Lindsey Wilson finished with 256 points -- none of which came from BMX.

In 2012-13 -- thanks to the Grigsby's leadership -- USA Cycling will add BMX as the fifth collegiate discipline to the national ranking. Grigsby's yearly push for BMX to be added to the rotation not only resulted in the national title in 2012 but will also lead to points towards the national ranking in 2013.

Grigsby's squad was one of just seven programs to earn points in each discipline in 2011-12. The Blue Raiders top finish in the overall team omnium came at the mountain bike nationals as Lindsey Wilson secured 79 points for a third place finish.

While Grigsby's teams were successful, individuals flourished as well as a pair of riders earned individual national championships. Grigsby has now coached five national championship riders during his coaching career.

And in the summer of 2012, Grigsby will add an Olympian to his résumé as Danny Caluag will race in the BMX races for the Philippines.

In 2009-10, Grigsby led Lindsey Wilson to an overall third-place finish in the final rankings -- the highest overall ranking in the history of the cycling program.

Grigsby is a USA Cycling certified Elite (Level 1) coach and is one of the few power certified cycling coaches in the United States.

While the Lindsey Wilson head coaching position is Grigsby's first in the collegiate ranks, he boasts more than 10 years experience coaching at the professional level. Grigsby coached Tiago Depaula, one of 20 athletes he trains, to the 2007 World Championships Criterium in Las Vegas.

In addition to his coaching, Grigsby is a former competitor at the Bluegrass State Games and in BMX races throughout the United States.

Grigsby graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1990. He and his wife, Karen, have one son, Jeremy and two grandchildren, Avie and Lily.
