Junior Daniel Eck's three-run homer in the first game helped the Blue Raiders to a 5-4 win.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team swept a doubleheader today over visiting Mid-Continent (Ky.) University at Raider Field.

The Blue Raiders improve to 8-6 on the season with the 5-4 and 7-4 wins. With the losses, Mid-Continent falls to 4-17 on the season.

In game one, junior Daniel Eck had three hits, including a three-run home run to help the Blue Raiders to a 5-4 win.

The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning after Lindsey Wilson junior centerfielder Nathan Bray lost a fly ball in the sun.

The Blue Raiders scored a pair of runs in the bottom half of the third inning to cut the Mid-Continent lead to 3-2. Eck opened the inning with a double and later scored on senior catcher Mark Jurczynski’s RBI double. Senior designated hitter Daniel Rector plated Jurczynski two batters later to cut the lead to 3-2.

One inning later, sophomore right fielder Shane Finley and senior second baseman Ace Adcock opened with singles to set up Eck’s blast over the centerfield wall. The home run -- Eck’s second of the season -- gave the Blue Raiders a 5-3 lead.

Mid-Continent cut the Blue Raiders lead in half in the top of the fifth when Dustin Kennon doubled and later scored Ryan Shea’s ground out.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore relievers Cory Collier and Cody Wales retired the final six Mid-Continent hitters to secure the Lindsey Wilson 5-4 win.

Sophomore Luis Parra (2-1) picked up the win allowing four runs -- two of which were earned -- on eight hits in five innings of work. Parra struck out four Cougar batters.

Wales earned his second save of the season with a perfect seventh inning.

Mid-Continent’s Jacob Larrison suffered the loss allowing all five runs on nine hits.

In the nightcap, the Blue Raiders rallied from a four-run deficit to beat the Cougars 7-4.

Mid-Continent scored in each of the second, third and fourth innings to take a 4-0 lead.

In the fourth, Mid-Continent’s Patrick Barber’s capped the Cougars’ scoring with a two-run homer over the right field fence.

With one swing of the bat, Bray cut the Mid-Continent lead in half with a blast down the right field line.

Lindsey Wilson capped the comeback with a five-run sixth inning to take the 7-4 lead and eventually the win.

In the inning, the first three Blue Raiders reached to load the bases. Following an infield fly, Adcock singled home junior pinch-runner Matt Scoggins to help the Blue Raiders cut the Cougar lead to 4-3 and chase reliever Mitchell Baumgardner after just 1/3 of an inning.

Mid-Continent reliever Sean Aldrich inherited bases loaded and preceded to walk Eck to tie the game at 4-4. Next, Jurczynski’s ground ball look to end the inning, but Mid-Continent shortstop Alex House booted the ball and then threw it beyond Barber’s reach at first base to score a pair of Blue Raiders.

Eck scored one play later on a wild pitch to give the Blue Raiders the 7-4 come-from-behind win.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Jose Castro picked up the win with one inning of no-hit relieve. Wales hurled his second perfect inning of the day for his third save of the season.
