COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team has been picked to finish third in the Mid-South Conference in 2017-18, according to the MSC Coaches' Preseason Poll released by the conference office on Thursday.
The Blue Raiders collected 40 total voting points in the poll and one first-place vote. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team in the poll.
Cumberlands (Ky.) was selected as the favorite to win the conference in 2017-18 after garnering 46 voting points and four of the eight first-place votes. Lindenwood-Bellevelle (Ill.), the two-time defending conference champions, was picked to finish second with 43 voting points and the remaining three first-place votes.
Loyola (La.) is fourth with 31 points followed by Campbellsville (Ky.) in fifth with 24 points. Bethel (Tenn.) is sixth with 17 points while first-year program Midland (Neb.) is seventh with 13 points. Life (Ga.) rounds out the poll in eighth with 11 points.
Last season, the Blue Raiders finished third at the MSC Championships before going on to record an eighth-place finish at the NAIA National Championships, matching the best finish in program history.
The 2018 Mid-South Conference Championships are scheduled for Feb. 2-4 at the Kingsport Aquatics Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
