COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team takes on Cumberlands (Ky.) at 6 p.m. in Williamsburg, Kentucky on Wednesday.
Lindsey Wilson (19-0, 8-0 Mid-South Conference) swept No. 10 Missouri Baptist 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-22) on Friday for their 18th sweep this season. LWC last dropped a set against Indiana Wesleyan in their third match of the season during the Lindsey Wilson Classic.
The Blue Raiders hit .267 in the match and limited the Missouri Baptist to a .149 hitting percentage. Lindsey Wilson tallied 42 kills in the match, four service aces and committed just 14 errors.
Paulina Sobolewska led the way with 10 kills, recording double-digit kills for a team-leading 12th time this season. Elly Burke and Grace Blomstedt chipped in with nine kills of their own in the win. Makenzie Montano recorded 34 assists while Caitlyn Tino had 14 digs.
The Blue Raiders rank second in the NAIA in hitting percentage (.351), seventh in kills per set (14.3) and 15th in blocks per set (2.3). Montano ranks seventh in assists per set with 10.9, Blomstedt ranks 15th in blocks per set (1.2) and Sobolewska's .326 hitting percentage ranks 27th.
The Patriots (11-8, 4-4 MSC) defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) last night 3-1 after dropping the first set of the match. Cumberlands tallied 41 kills and 15 errors in the match. Jessica Severs led the way recording 11 kills while Mackenzie Koch had eight of her own. Lynsey Short had 29 assists.
Cumberlands ranks fourth in the NAIA in digs per set at (19.8) as Tara Routliffe ranks fourth in digs per set with (6.4). Routliffe has recorded 419 digs this season.
Tonight's matchup is the 38th meeting between the two schools with Lindsey Wilson holding a 26-11 edge in the series. This is the second time this season the two programs have met as Lindsey Wilson swept the first meeting 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-16). Lindsey Wilson concluded the match hitting .352 with 44 kills and just 13 errors.
