VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team carded an opening round 31-over par 319 on Monday at the Thomas (Ga.) University Invitational held at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
While No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.) leads the field after a 6-over 294 and No. 2 Dalton State (Ga.) is second at 10-over 298, the next four teams on the leaderboard are separated by just four strokes. Cumberland (Tenn.), who is receiving votes in the national poll, is currently third at 315, followed by Campbellsville (Ky.) in fourth at 316. No. 19 Lindsey Wilson and No. 18 Southeastern (Fla.) are tied for fifth at the 10-team tournament after first-round 319s. Coastal Georgia is then 17 strokes back in seventh place.
Courtney Vincent provided the best Blue Raider round of the day after carding a 4-over par 76. She currently sits in a three-way tie for fifth, but is eight strokes off the leader, Cumberlands' Kaitlyn Riley at 4-under.
The second and final round of play is scheduled to begin on Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be a shotgun start set to begin at 8 a.m. CT at the par-72, 6,027-yard course. Live video will be available on the 18th hole as well as during the awards ceremony after the tournament.
