COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team takes a two-day Mid-South Conference road swing when they face Pikeville (Ky.) on Thursday. The Blue Raiders (11-0, 2-0 MSC) then face Shawnee State (Ohio) on Friday.
Lindsey Wilson swept Cumberland (Tenn.) on Tuesday. Yennifer Ramirez led the Blue Raiders with 11 kills and a .348 attacking percentage. Grace Blomstedt added 10 kills hitting .625. Makenzie Montano recorded 29 assists while Caitlyn Tino provided a team-high 12 digs.
The Blue Raiders .329 hitting percentage ranks second in the NAIA. Lindsey Wilson is 13th in kills per game with 14.2. Montano's 10.7 assists per game rank 11th in the NAIA
Pikeville (4-8, 0-0 MSC) is coming off a 3-0 loss against West Virginia Tech. Noelani Simpson led the Bears with nine kills. Amari Eadie and Cassidy Tackett each had five blocks. Eadie leads the team in blocks with 45.
Lindsey Wilson holds a 21-match winning streak against Pikeville with the last defeat coming on Sept. 7, 2005. The Blue Raiders took both matches from the Bears in straight sets in 2016.
Shawnee State (5-7, 0-0 MSC) defeated Montreat (N.C.) on Saturday in five sets. Deanna Smith led the Bears with 55 assists. Smith has a team-best 423 assists this season. Three Bears recorded double-digit kills. Tyanna Smith led the way with 18, Christina Shelton added 17 and Carson Roney chipped in with 12.
Lindsey Wilson holds a 12-match winning streak against Shawnee State with the last defeat coming on Nov. 8, 2010. The Blue Raiders took three matches from the Bears in 2016 in straight sets.
