COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson junior varsity women's soccer team played Cumberlands (Ky.) to a 6-0 win Wednesday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Opening the scoring for LWC was Samantha Helton who scored her first collegiate goal in the 20th minute followed by a Kat Barnwell goal in the 36th minute to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 advantage going into halftime.
The second half opened with a Micah Homes goal. Later in the action Kim Ramirez's found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal during the 65th minute. Six minutes later Barnwell scored her second goal of the contest on a pass from Brooklyn Stevens while Amber Brown closed out the scoring with a goal in the 79th minute.
"It was great for the team to get their first win of the season and to see some of the freshmen score their first collegiate goals" coach Elisha Fry said. "The girls are working hard in training and it showed today. I'm proud of the effort they showed and that they learning from the previous games played."
The junior varsity team returns to action on Sept. 10 when they face Pikeville (Ky.) at 10:30 a.m. CT at Bob Amos Soccer Complex.
