At the invitational where only jumping and throwing events were contested, Thompson topped the field of six competitors with his distance of 14.08 meters. He fell just shy of the B standard mark of 14.20 meters.
Hurt won the women's triple jump event out of seven athletes with a distance of 11.03 meters.
Thompson also added a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.78 meters, while Hurt placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.42 meters.
Tatiana Williams captured fourth in the women's high jump with a height of 1.47 meters. She then added a sixth-place finish with a leap of 5.12 meters in the long jump.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Friday beginning with the two-day Austin Peay State Invitational in Clarksville, Tennessee.
