COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team defeated No. 6-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan 3-1 on Tuesday at Egnew Park.
Edwin Bonilla hit a one-out double in the first inning for the Bulldogs (26-12) and advanced to third on a ground out. A strike out would strand Bonilla at third. The Blue Raiders would also strand a runner in scoring position in the first inning.
Jayden Jackson singled with two outs in the third inning to extend his reached base safely streak to 34 games. After a Ben Giland walk, Anderson hit a three-run home run to give the Blue Raiders a 3-0 lead.
Cody Erickson doubled down the left field line with one out in the top of the fourth inning. After a fly out advanced him to third, Erickson came around to score on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 3-1.
After Antonio Dorado singled and then advanced to second on a wild pitch in the sixth inning, Mauricio Guadarrama hit a sacrifice bunt to advance Dorado to third. Dorado was tagged out a home on a sacrifice bunt attempt and the Blue Raiders would leave the bases loaded to end the inning.
Steve Colella (5-2) picked up the victory pitching 6-1/3 innings while allowing one earned run on three hits and struck out two. Louis Corral recorded his first save of the season pitching 2-2/3 innings allowing one hit and striking out four.
The Blue Raiders are back in action for a three game Mid-South Conference series that begins on Friday at Cumberlands (Ky.). Lindsey Wilson was supposed to be on the road Wednesday at Bryan (Tenn.) but the game has been cancelled due to conference rescheduling for Bryan.
