COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson baseball team dropped the series finale against Mid-South Conference foe Campbellsville (Ky.) 10-6 on Sunday at Egnew Park.
The Tigers (19-14, 7-5 MSC) struck first in the first inning scoring two runs with two outs in the inning. Brett Hamilton and Romello Carbuccia each drove in a run for Campbellsville in the inning.
After a Paredes walk and a Moore single Jackson drove in Paredes to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the bottom of the first inning. A Ben Giland sacrifice bunt advanced the runners to second and third with one out. Moore was thrown out at home by the third baseman for the second out of the inning. A fly out to end the first stranded Blue Raider runners at first and third.
Carlos Garmendia hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead. For a second consecutive inning a Lindsey Wilson runner was thrown out a home plate. Mauricio Guadarrama reached second on a dropped fly ball by the right fielder. Guadarrama then advanced to third on a wild pitch. After a Vincent Boils fly out to left field Guadarrama was thrown out a home trying to tag up.
Lindsey Wilson added three runs in the bottom of the third inning on five hits and one Campbellsville error. Paredes began the inning with a single and then advanced to third on a Moore single. Paredes came around to score on a double play to trim the deficit to 3-2. Anotnio Dorado reached on an error by the second baseman that allowed Giland to score to tie the game at 3-3. Guadarrama drove in a run to give the Blue Raiders a 4-3 lead.
Campbellsville struck back with three runs in the fourth inning aided by three Lindsey Wilson errors. Hamilton reached first on an error by the third baseman and then reached second on a stolen base. Marlor Villafana drove in Hamilton to tie the game 4-4. Garmendia drove in a run to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead. Villafana came around to score on a bobble by the left fielder giving Campbellsville a 6-4 lead.
Campbellsvile added four runs in the ninth on a single, a double and a groundout to take a 10-4 lead. The Blue Raiders added two in their half of the ninth on a Jackson RBI single and a Giland sacrifice fly.
Pearcy (3-2) picked up the loss pitching three innings while allowing four earned runs on seven hits. Corral pitched six innings of relief allowing two earned runs on four hits and striking out six.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Tuesday against Tennessee Wesleyan at 3 p.m. CT at Egnew Park.
