COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's golf team host their second tournament of the year – the Lindsey Wilson Spring Fling – this Monday and Tuesday at the Pines at Lindsey Wilson.
The two-day tournament is the first home event since the Blue Raider Classic on Oct. 10-11. The then-No. 23-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's team overcame a four-stroke deficit on day one to win the team competition by five strokes with a two-day total 566 (287-279).
Federico Navarro took medalist honors at the Blue Raider Classic after defeating Indiana Wesleyan's Jake Coffey. Navarro shot a tournament-low 6-under 65 on the second day of the tournament, finishing with a two-day total 136 (71-65).
The Lindsey Wilson women's team was also victorious at the Blue Raider Classic, finishing 29 strokes ahead of Cumberland (Tenn.) with a two-day total 618 (304-314).
The No. 22-ranked men's team competed at the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament last Monday and Tuesday. Lindsey Wilson finished at 22-over 598 (292-306), edging out runner-up Pikeville (Ky.) by 25 strokes.
The team victory was the third of the year for the Blue Raiders, who also secured the MSC's regular season title.
Lind took medalist honors at the event after edging Union's (Ky.) Erik Hermanson on the third hole of a sudden-death playoff. Navarro missed the playoff by one stroke, finishing the tournament in second place at 4-over 148 (74-74).
The No. 25-ranked Blue Raider women's team turned in a fourth-place finish at the MSC Spring Tournament. Lindsey Wilson posted a 70-over 654 (324-330) – 16 strokes behind first-place Cumberlands (Ky.).
