LONDON, Ky. – No. 18-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's golf carded a 4-over par 292 and sits in first place after the first day of play at the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament.
The Blue Raiders are 17 strokes ahead of the field as Cumberland (Tenn.), Asbury (Ky.) and Cumberlands (Ky.) sit in a three-way tie for second place at 21-over 309.
Lind started on the front nine and committed a double bogey on the second hole but erased that mistake with birdies on the fourth and sixth holes for an even-par 36 going out. The freshman carded another birdie on the par-4 16th hole and is tied for second in par-4 scoring at 1-under.
Durham started on the second hole and recorded consecutive birdies on the fourth and fifth holes. The senior pushed his score to 3-under with another birdie on the 12th hole before ending his round with a double bogey on 16, a bogey on 18 and two pars on the 17th and 1st holes.
Three golfers sit one stroke back of Lind and Durham at 1-over 73.
Navarro started on the first hole and went out at 2-under 34 before carding a 4-over eight on the 10th hole and a bogey on the 12th. The reigning MSC Men's Golfer of the Week birdied his final hole to pull to within two strokes of par.
Of Navarro's four birdies on the day, three came on par-5 holes. The senior is tied for first in par-5 scoring at 2-under.
Willer posted 1-over 37 on both the front and back nines. The Ikast, Denmark native carded five total birdies in the first round, which is tied for the most by an individual.
Clayton Bradshaw rounded out the Blue Raider contingent at 8-over 80.
Day two of the nine-team event begins tomorrow morning.
