COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team travels to Dayton, Tennessee for a doubleheader on Monday against Bryan (Tenn.) at 1 p.m. CT at Bryan Softball Field.
The Blue Raiders (16-7) swept a four game Mid-South Conference series against Pikeville (Ky.) Saturday-Sunday. Lindsey Wilson took game one 3-2 on a Sydney Fourman walk-off single. Casey Bryan matched a career-high in strikeouts with 12. The Blue Raiders took game two 8-0 (five innings.). Callum Pilgrim and Fourman each hit a home run in the game.
Lindsey Wilson took game one on Sunday 9-0 (five innings). Bryan earned the win striking out 6 and retiring 14 consecutive batters. The Blue Raiders picked up a 4-0 victory in game two. Abby Whelan went 5-for-5 on Sunday driving in two runs. Whelan now has a hit in six-consecutive at-bats.
The Lions (10-10) swept Milligan (Tenn.) on Friday 1-0, 9-0. Becca Zimmerman hit a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning in game one. Sydney West pitched a complete game in the shutout giving up four hits and striking out five. Hannah O'Shields went 3-for-4 in the second game driving in three runs and Courtney Petty went 2-for-2 driving in a pair. Heidi Smith leads the team in batting average (.420) and runs batted in (15). Bryan has won six of its' last eight games.
Lindsey Wilson is 4-0 all-time against Bryan. The two teams last met on Feb. 16 at the NAIA Southeastern Challenge. The Blue Raiders picked up a 3-1 victory. Samantha Luckett hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Lauren Lett pitched a complete game giving up one run and striking out five.
