BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis lost just one match in its 5-1 road victory over No. 17-ranked Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Saturday.
The Blue Raiders (9-4) took two out of three doubles matches before winning the first three singles flights to end the competition.
The Tigers (2-8) quickly leveled the match with a victory in the second-seeded doubles flight. The No. 24-ranked pairing of Victoria Monokhova and Faith Huckabee defeated Minja Gligic and Jovana Peric, 8-4.
Up 2-1, the Blue Raiders won the first three singles matches to end competition early.
Prados Cid started the run by defeating Huck 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth-seeded singles flight. Gabriella Pedroza then put the Blue Raiders up 4-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Winnie in the sixth-seeded singles flight.
Peric sealed Lindsey Wilson's victory when she downed Kuechenberg 6-2, 6-0 in the fifth-seeded singles match.
Saturday's win capped a string of three victories over ranked opponents in as many days for the Blue Raiders. This season, Lindsey Wilson is 6-0 against ranked NAIA competition.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Wednesday against Asbury (Ky.) on the road. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. CT start.
