ATHENS, Tenn. – The No. 15-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team lost an 8-2 road game to No. 10-ranked Tennessee Wesleyan on Wednesday.
The Blue Raiders (13-10) pulled to within a run, 3-2, after the top of the sixth inning only to see the Bulldogs (17-8) run away with three runs in innings six through eight.

Lindsey Wilson threatened in the top half of the first inning but could not scratch out a run. A Ray Gonzalez walk followed by a Connor Anderson single put runners on first and second with only one out. The next batter, Jayden Jackson flew out to center field, and Gonzalez was doubled up to end the frame.
Tennessee Wesleyan capitalized on its scoring opportunity in the home half of the first to score the first run of the game. Pedro Barrios hit a leadoff double then advanced to third on an Edwin Bonilla single. Barrios then came home to score on a sacrifice fly by Ridout.
The Bulldogs tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the third inning. Malik Stephens reached first on an error to lead off the inning then stole second base and eventually scored on a Bonilla triple. Bonilla then came home on a Ridout groundout.
The two-run third ended the day for Blue Raider starting pitcher Aaron Pearcy. The junior right-hander allowed three earned runs on four hits and struck out a batter while taking the loss.
Pearcy's replacement, Ricky Winfield allowed just one runner in his first two innings to keep Lindsey Wilson within three runs heading into the sixth inning.
Lindsey Wilson parlayed two Tennessee Wesleyan errors into two runs in the road half of the sixth. An error by right fielder Nehwon Norkeh extended the inning and put runners on first and third with two outs. The Bulldogs committed another error during the next at-bat, which allowed both Jackson and Steven Paredes to score.
The Blue Raiders trailed 3-2 after 5-1/2 innings, but the Bulldogs scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull away again.
Tennessee Wesleyan put runners on first and second with one out and Cody Erickson at the plate. Erickson singled to score Ridout before Dan Ward also reached home on a Paredes error.
A Grant Lang sacrifice fly accounted to the third run of the inning.
The Bulldogs tacked on an insurance run in both the seventh and eighth innings to lead 8-2 going into the final frame.
Lindsey Wilson managed a hit – a Vincent Boils single – in the top of the ninth but nothing more.
