Lindsey Wilson softball drops opener at Union.

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team dropped their 2008 season opener 7-0 today at Union (Ky.) College. The second game was canceled in the fourth inning due to inclement weather.

Lindsey Wilson (0-1) managed just five hits in the loss. With the win, Union improves to 2-1 on the season.

Union starter Sarah Driver picked up her second win of the season while striking out eight Lindsey Wilson batters in the shutout. With the bat, Driver contributed a pair of hits and a RBI to help the Bulldogs to the win.

Lindsey Wilson senior pitcher Danielle Clark suffered the loss, allowing seven runs -- five earned -- on 13 hits in six innings of work.

The Blue Raiders return to action on Saturday at the Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College Tournament in Pulaski, Tenn. The tournament -- originally scheduled to begin on Friday -- is pushed back a day due to the weather.
