COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team has signed Hayden Krause for the 2017-18 season, head coach Alicia Kemnitz announced on Monday.
Krause joins the Blue Raiders from Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Ohio.
"I have had a wonderful time recruiting Hayden and am excited that he has decided to become a part of the Blue Raider family," Kemnitz said. "He's proven himself as a natural athlete and I'm confident that he has yet to reach his full potential in our sport."
While at Fairfield, Krause played football his freshman and sophomore years before making the switch to swimming his junior and senior seasons. He was named a team captain during his senior campaign.
Krause competes with his swim club Countryside YMCA out of Lebanon, Ohio. He qualified for the Long Course Nationals in both the 50 and 100 breaststrokes in 2016 in just his first year with the club.
In the classroom, Krause holds a 3.4 grade point average and is a three-year member of the "Success to Connect" peer tutoring program. Along with workers with youth swimmers at his local community pool, Krause has also spent time as a volunteer at Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields, a comprehensive family sports facility dedicated to provide a fun and safe sports experience for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities.
"As a solid breaststroker, Hayden is going to add some much needed depth and speed to that event for our squad," Kemnitz said.
