COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (KTCCCA) has named Lindsey Wilson head coach Jamaine Gordon the 2016 Men and Women's College Division Track and Field Coach of the Year, while student-athlete Dondre Mimms was selected as the 2016 College Division Male Athlete of the Year and Ben Graham was named the USATF-KY Race Walk Male Athlete of the Year, the organization announced on Saturday.
Gordon led both the Lindsey Wilson men and women's program to the outdoor Mid-South Conference Championships in 2016. It marked the second-straight season for the men to capture the title while the women secured the crown for just the second time in program history. The Blue Raider men went on to finish in 11th place at the 2016 NAIA Outdoor National Championships, the highest-ever finish at a national championship event for a Blue Raider track and field team.
Gordon coached a pair of NAIA All-Americans on the women's side in 2016 while 11 Blue Raiders earned All-American honors throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons for the men's team.
Mimms collected a pair of NAIA All-American honors in 2016, including finishing as the national runner-up as part of the 4x100 meter relay team at the outdoor championships. The 4x100 meter relay team became the first in school history to ever earn All-American honors as a relay team.
Mimms went on to add a fifth-place finish in the 200 meter dash at the outdoor championships, his second NAIA All-American honor of the year.
At the Mid-South Conference Outdoor Championships, Mimms earned All-MSC First Team honors three times after winning the 200 and 400 meter dash and 4x100 meter relay events.
Graham earned NAIA All-American honors at the indoor national championships after his third-place finish in the 3,000 meter race walk. He also earned All-MSC First Team honors at the MSC Outdoor Championships after winning the 5,000 meter race walk.
