NEW YORK -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Amanda Johnson set a school record on Friday at the 101st Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden.
The Morganfield, Ky., native finished eighth with a time of eight minutes and 3.06 seconds in the mile Race Walk.
Walk USA’s Teresa Vaill won the 12-woman event with a time of 7:10.99.
The event serves as the third stop of the USA Track & Field’s Visa Championship Series.
The Millrose Games are the oldest indoor track and field meet in the United States. The event takes place each year in historic Madison Square Garden.
The NAIA All-American was not the only Johnson to compete at the event. Her father Douglas matched his daughter’s finish with an eighth place (7:10.99) in the men’s mile Race Walk.
Amanda competes March 6-10 in the 3,000 meter Race Walk at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Johnson City, Tenn.
