GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- The Lindsey Wilson College track and field team continued to break school records as they participated in the Depauw Invitational on Saturday in Greencastle, Indiana.
Five school records fell this weekend after five records were bettered last weekend.
For the men, sophomore Carlos Morgan set a new school record of 6.57 seconds in the 55 meter dash. The previous record was 6.67 seconds set in 1997. Morgan finished second in the event.
The Lindsey Wilson men's 4 x 200 meter relay team of Morgan, Zanman Graham, Adam Cecil and Carl Morgan broke the school record of 1:35.17 with a new record time of 1:33.62. The relay time was good for a third place finish.
The Lindsey Wilson women's 4 x 200 meter relay team also shattered the previous school record. The relay team of Kristina Wimsatt, Amber Cannon, Brenetta Bradley and Talathia Weekes ran a time of 1:53.92, besting the previous record of 1:57.31. The team finished eighth of 12 teams.
Cannon broke her own school record in the 200 meter dash. Cannon finished 12th and ran a 27.11 to best her 27.22 time from last weekend. She also broke another of her school records in the 400 meter dash. Cannon finished 10th with a time of 1:01.34, bettering her old record of 1:01.68.
Blue Raider sophomore Sammy Maiyo qualified for nationals in the 3,000 meter run, finishing with a time of 8:46.59. Maiyo finished seventh in the 42-runner event.
Blue Raider sophomore Kamila Bocian ran 3:01.52 to qualify for the nationals in the 1,000 meter run. Bocian finished fourth of 17 runners.
The Lindsey Wilson men's team placed fifth out of 18 teams. Lindsey Wilson gained 51 points with Southern Illinois University gaining 137 points for the win. The women finished 12th of 18 teams. The Blue Raiders earned 19 points as Missouri Baptist University garnered 157 points for the victory.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on February 18 as the Blue Raiders compete in the Depauw Classic in Greencastle, Indiana.
