Lindsey Wilson cross country begins season on September 8

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men’s cross country team is picked to win the Mid-South Conference and the women’s team picked to finish second in the MSC preseason coaches’ poll.

The men’s cross country team is projected to finish just ahead of defending conference champions, University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). Campbellsville (Ky.) University, Pikeville (Ky.) College, Georgetown (Ky.) College and West Virginia Tech round out the six-team preseason poll.

Lindsey Wilson returns all-conference selections senior Emmanuel Isanda and junior Koji Hashiyama. Sophomore Sammy Maiyo -- a 2005 all-conference selection -- returns this season after sitting out the 2006 season due to injuries.

The LWC men finished third last season behind Cumberlands and Campbellsville.

Lindsey Wilson women’s cross country is projected to finish second this season after winning the program’s first conference title last season.

Georgetown is picked to win the conference by the league coaches.

Campbellsville is projected to finish third with Cumberlands and Pikeville receiving the same number votes to tie for fourth. West Virginia Tech rounds out the six-team conference.

Lindsey Wilson junior Marie Coyon and sophomore Monicah Maiyo return after their all-conference season a year ago.

The Mid-South Conference and NAIA Region XI Championships will be held concurrently on Saturday, November 3 in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Lindsey Wilson opens its season on Saturday, September 8, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Centre (Ky.) College Invitational.
