JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's and women's track & field teams finished in the mid-20's in the 2006 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships held over the weekend.

The Blue Raider men ended the meet with five points and a 26th place finish, while the women finished 23rd with four points.
Lindsey Wilson junior Jamaine Gordon earned the all five points for the Blue Raider men in a pair of different disciplines.

Gordon -- the defending NAIA National Outdoor Triple Jump Champion -- finished just off the podium in fourth place in the Men's Indoor Triple Jump on Saturday.

His distance of 49 feet 4-1/4 inches (15.04 meters) marked a career-best jump and bested his program-record by nearly two inches. Lindenwood (Mo.) University's James Jenkins' 51-3 1/2 feet (15.63) won the Men's Triple Jump National Championship.

For his efforts, Gordon earned four points toward the team total.

On Friday, Gordon finished in sixth place in the Men's Long Jump. His jump of 23-6 feet (7.16 meters) -- a 1/4 of an inch off his program-record -- came in his sixth and final jump to secure the other point for Lindsey Wilson.

Dickinson State senior Trevor Barr won the event with a jump of 25-3 1/4 feet (7.70).

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Carlos Morgan finished eighth in the Men's Long Jump with a distance of 23-3 1/2 feet (7.10); sophomore Carl Morgan finished 21st with a jump of 22-0 3/4 feet (6.72).

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Sammy Mayio finished 12th in the Men's 5,000-meter run finals on Saturday.

Mayio -- who finished with the eighth fastest time in Friday's qualifying heats -- ran the 5,000 meters in 15 minutes and 20.49 seconds. Mayio was nine seconds slower than his qualifying run.

Virginia Intermont College senior Fernando Cabada won the event with a time of 14:26.76.

Lindenwood won the Men's Indoor National Championship with a team-total of 94.5 points.

On the women's side, Lindsey Wilson sophomore Kamila Bocian earned the team's four points with a fourth place finish in the Women's 1,000-meter run.

Bocian earned a berth into the Saturday's finals with a program-record 2:55.66, the second fastest qualifying time.

In Saturday's finals, Bocian bested her program-record with a time of 2:53.13 to finish just off the podium.

Simon Fraser (B.C.) University senior Julia Howard broke the meet's record with a time of 2:48.69 to win the national championship.

Other Women's Results.

Lindsey Wilson sophomore Anine Stanley was unable to defend her Women's 3,000-meter Race Walk national championship, as she finished in ninth place in the 16-woman field on Friday. The 2005 national champion finished the race in 16:38.37. Freshman teammate Talathia Weekes finished 15th with a time of 19:41.28.

Virginia Intermont freshman Amanda Gorst won the national championship with a time of 14:39.30.
