Freshman Paul Ray led the Blue Raiders with a 181.86 average.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- The Lindsey Wilson College bowling team opened its season at the Brunswick Coca Cola Southern Classic over the weekend.

The Blue Raiders finished 21st in the 25-team field with 9,913 pins. Lindenwood (Mo.) University won the event with 12,361 pins.

Lindsey Wilson freshman Paul Ray led the Blue Raiders with 1,273 pins in the team portion of the event. The Louisville, Ky., native, bowled a 181.86 average to finish 47th overall out of the 159 bowlers.

Junior Edwin Martz and senior Jeffrey Bivins topped the 1,000-pin plateau with 1,131 and 1,059 respectively. Martz ended in 71st with a 161.57 average and Bivins finished 82nd with a 151.29 average.

In the Baker matches, Lindsey Wilson recorded a 2-5 record, defeating Allen University 873-733 and University of Tennessee-Chattanooga 893-832.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Nov. 10-11, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Raider Classic in Beaver Creek, Ohio.
