COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson baseball will square off against Cumberland (Tenn.) Sunday at 12 p.m. CT for the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. Lindsey Wilson is hosting the tournament and enters the game as the No. 7 seed while Cumberland comes in as the No. 2 seed.
The Blue Raiders (26-27, 12-14 MSC) lost a three-game MSC series to Cumberlands (Ky.) last weekend to end the regular season. Mitchell Osnowitz is batting .384 with 71 hits and 12 home runs, leading Lindsey Wilson batters in all three categories. Derek Shugart is batting .335 and Jeandro Andino .333. On the mound for the Blue Raiders, England Smith owns a 3.07 earned run average and 4-4 record in 88 innings pitched. Luke Shearrow is 4-3 with a 3.24 ERA and Jason Turner is 6-4 with a 3.56 ERA.
Lindsey Wilson ranks 12th in the NAIA in at bats per game (32.755) and 13th in total at bats (1,736).
The Bulldogs (36-17, 17-9 MSC) have won six straight and concluded the regular season with a 12-7 win over Bryan (Tenn.) on Wednesday. The team is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
Cumberland is 10th in the nation in both total runs scored (382) and total runs batted in (339) and is 13th in both total hits (549) and hits per game (10.358).
Both teams split a doubleheader on March 30 after having to cancel a game the day before. Cumberland took the first game 5-3 in 10 innings, while Lindsey Wilson won the second game 8-4 in seven innings.
