Meeks earns her second straight NAIA Volleball Scholar-Athlete honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Lindsey Wilson's Sarah Anderson, Emily Meeks and Kailey Moorhead were named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athletes, national officials announced on Friday.
391 student-athletes were named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete this season.
Meeks is receiving this honor for the second consecutive year. She was also named a Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference member.
This is Anderson and Moorhead's first year receiving the NAIA Scholar-Athlete honor. They were also named MSC Academic All-Conference honorees for their work in the classroom this season.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
The Blue Raiders concluded the 2013 season with a 36-6 record in the pool play round at the NAIA National Championship.
