The Blue Raiders led by as many as 28
COLUMBIA, Ky. – Kayla Richardson scored 20 points to lead Lindsey Wilson past Midway (Ky.) College 90-70 Saturday at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (9-1, 1-1) had five players score in double figures. Chanel Roberts scored 12 and Tara Arnold 11, while Candace Foster and Cassidy Martin came off the bench to contribute 13 and 11 respectively.
The score remained even early on with the lead changing four times. However, Lindsey Wilson would take over with 12:24 on the clock as Richardson made a field goal to make it 15-14. The Blue Raiders would increase their lead closing out the half on an 8-0 run to take a 48-30 advantage into the locker room..
Richardson scored 14 of her points in the opening 20 minutes. Lindsey Wilson outrebounded Midway 21-12 and converted 12-of-14 free throw attempts.
The Blue Raiders controlled the second half, increasing their lead by as many as 28 points. Midway chipped away at Lindsey Wilson's lead, but the closest the Eagles would get was 88-70 in the final minute of play.
Me'Lisa Martinez scored 25 points to pace the Eagles, who fall to 3-6 with the loss. Star Armstrong added 12 points off the bench for Midway.
The Blue Raiders scored 38 of theirs points from the paint and scored 15 off second-chance opportunities. Lindsey Wilson made 17-of-21 free throws to shoot 81 percent from the charity stripe, while Lindsey Wilson's bench outscored Midway's 30-23.
Next up for Lindsey Wilson is a 1 p.m. CT Dec. 14 game at Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) University. The Blue Raiders defeated the Eagles earlier this season 84-58 on Nov. 8.
