Tom earns the honor for the second straight year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Lindsey Wilson's Sabrina Tom and Katarina Simic were named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athletes, national officials announced on Friday.
507 student-athletes were named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete this season.
Tom is receiving this honor for the second consecutive year. She was also named a Mid-South Conference Academic All-Conference member. This is Simic's first year receiving the NAIA Scholar-Athlete honor. She was also named an MSC Academic All-Conference honoree for her work in the classroom this season.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
The Blue Raiders ended their season on Friday afternoon in a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Concordia (Ore.) in the NAIA National Championship Semifinal.
