Lindsey Wilson finishes fourth in Team Omnium at Beech Mountain

BEECH MOUNTAIN, N.C. -- Josh Patton won the dual slalom National Championship at Beech Mountain during the National Mountain Bike Championship this weekend as Lindsey Wilson took fourth in Team Omnium. 

Patton and teammate J.D. Swanguen met in the final of the Dual Slalom that secured a National Championship for the Blue Raiders in this discipline. In the end, it was Patton's day. Patton took round one and two to seal his first National Championship. It capped off good weekend for Patton as he finished on the podium in the Downhill with a fifth place showing on Saturday.

The Blue Raiders finished with 466 points as they took first place team points in the Men's Downhill and Men's Dual Slalom. Fort Lewis (Colo.) College won the Team Omnium with 732 points. Marian (Ind.) University finished in second place with 658 points while Lees-McCrae (N.C.) College rounded out the top-3 with 646 points. 

Patton's win is the fourth Men's Division I National Dual Slalom Championship for the Blue Raiders, its first since winning three-in-row from 2006 to 2008. 

Swanguen secured his second top-3 finish on the weekend with his run in the Dual Slalom after finishing third in the Downhill. Danny CaluagBrandon McDowell and Dakotah Norton finished 10th, 11th and 46th respectively to help the Blue Raiders team receive the first place points for the event. 

Stephanie Caluag came up short in her attempt to win back-to-back National Dual Slalom Championships with a solid performance finishing sixth in the event. Ashton Raum and Vhasti Schmidt came in 14th and 21st place respectively. 

In the Team Relay event the Blue Raiders team of Kenny HallMadison Mills,Travis Monroe and Paige Sanders took 10th place with a time of 17:57.00. 

In other action at the National Mountain Bike Championships, Norton finished eighth in the men's Downhill while teammates McDowell and Caluag took 45th and 47th position on Saturday. Lindsey Wilson men were able to secure first place team points for the team omnium with thier showing in the event. On the women's side Raum was the top racer taking 20th place while teammates Schmidt and Caluag finished in 23rd and 24th place. 

The Cross Country race also held on Saturday saw Hall, Monroe and Myers all place in the top-40 for the Blue Raiders as did the women. Mills and Sanders both took top-40 finishes.

In Fridays Short Track Cross Country event, Hall and Monroe finished in the top-25 at 23rd and 24th respectively while Myers placed 40th. Sanders and Mills placed in the top-40 for the women.
