Four teams will compete for the “Pumpkin”
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson junior varsity baseball program is hosting the Pumpkin Classic this Thursday through Saturday at Egnew Park.
The Pumpkin Classic is an annual tournament that features two additional Mid-South Conference teams – Campbellsville (Ky.) University and St. Catharine (Ky.) College – as well as Asbury (Ky.) University. St Catharine (Ky.) are the defending champions of the Classic.
"Hopefully this can be the year that our younger guys can bring home the "Pumpkin" in this year's Pumpkin Classic," said head coach Jonathan Burton. "For the past three years St. Catharine has had their way with everyone and we hope that we can begin to turn the table a bit.
"This is an opportunity to continue to evaluate our freshman and sophomores in a setting that is very competitive while playing for something against teams within our conference. This tournament is very beneficial as we look to the future within our program."
Games begin on Thursday, October 3 at 11 a.m. CT with the Championship game on Saturday, October 5 at 12:30 p.m. CT.
