Eight different Blue Raiders score
COLUMBIA, Ky. – No. 3 Lindsey Wilson women's soccer defeats St. Catharine (Ky.) College 13-1 behind four goals from Jamie Stanton and three goals by Anna Vig.
The Blue Raiders (9-2, 4-0 MSC) had five goals in the first half. Stanton scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute, her fourth goal on the season, to make it 1-0.
The Patriots (7-3, 2-2 MSC) tied the game at 1-1 on an unassisted goal by Chelsey Landrum in the 30th minute.
Lindsey Wilson continued to press the ball as they outshot St. Catharine by a margin of 9-4 in the first half. Bettina Bruelhart made it 2-1 after beating the defender and putting it past diving St. Catharine keeper Lindsey Vinson in the 37th minute.
The Blue Raiders continued their attack as Katarina Simic and Natasha Gensetter got on the board thanks to Ayaki Shinada assists. Stanton got her second goal to close out the first period.
Shinada added a goal to her two assists early in the second half. Stanton then scored her third and fourth goal soon after, with Alice Coyne assisting all three.
Renee Hurd assisted Vig for her first goal in the 76th minute, then assisted Megan Rauch in the 86th.
Vig scored goals two and three in the 84th and 85th minutes before Cecilia Ekstrand gave the Blue Raiders their final goal in the 89th.
The Blue Raiders outshot the Patriots 24-4 and led in corner kicks 10-1.
Lindsey Wilson hosts Cumberlands (Ky.) on Oct. 5 for a 7 p.m. CT MSC contest.
