DANVILLE, Ky. -- Joshua Kles won twice to lead the Lindsey Wilson men's track & field team to a third place finish today at the Centre (Ky.) Invitational.
Kles captured the shot put and discus titles to secure two of the three Blue Raider wins today. Tawanda Washaya joined Kles in the winner's circle with a first in the triple jump.
The Blue Raiders scored 136.5 team points to finish behind winner Cumberlands (Ky.) (176 points) and host Centre (168.5).
Kles won the shot put with a heave of 15.49 meters and the discus with a throw of 45.07 meters. He added a third in the hammer throw at 46.02 meters. It was one of five third place finishes during the meet.
Lindsey Wilson added five second-place finishes in events as well. David Lee (3,000-meter steeplechase), Charlie Mullennex (shot put), Daniel Farris (discus), Kameron Spivey (long jump) and J.R. Northcutt (high jump) all recorded runner-up finishes.
Washaya's win came with a jump of 14.46 meters in the triple jump. He won the event by nearly two meters -- over 5-1/2 feet.
The third place team finish is the second of the season for the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson also finished third at Berea (Ky.) to open the season. The Blue Raiders won their own home meet last week.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Saturday, April 13 as the Blue Raiders travel to Williamsburg, Ky. for the Cumberlands Invitational.
