COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 sweep tonight to visiting Georgetown (Ky.) College at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (10-16, 5-3 in the Mid-South Conference) managed just 24 kills for the match and hit just .167 as a team en route to 28-30, 9-30, 22-30 loss.
Lindsey Wilson pushed the Lady Tigers (32-4, 7-1) in the opening game before falling 30-28.
The Blue Raiders trailed 14-19 in game one before winning seven of the next eight points to take a 21-20 lead. The Blue Raiders led 25-23 but Georgetown scored five of the next six points to take a 28 26 lead.
Lindsey Wilson scored the next two points to tie the game at 28-28. But Georgetown scored the final two points of the game to escape with a 30-28 win.
The Lady Tigers dominated the second game, scoring the first eight points and 17 of the first 20. Lindsey Wilson would score just nine points en route to the 30-9 loss.
Georgetown seized control midway through game three leading by as many as six points (17-11). The Blue Raiders cut the lead to 20-18, but would get no closer before falling 30-22.
Lindsey Wilson senior middle blocker Lucy Ng’ang’a led the Blue Raiders with nine kills. Sophomore setter Sarah Kline led Lindsey Wilson with eight assists for the match, while senior Aubrey Mlachnik recorded a team-high 15 digs.
Georgetown’s Jessica Hoeh recorded a match-high 13 kills, while setter Jenna Gronotte contributed 28 assists. A trio of Lady Tigers recorded 10 digs each.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, October 25, as the Blue Raiders host Campbellsville (Ky.) University at Biggers Sports Center.
