The competition was their first-ever event
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College dance team captured the NAIA East Region Dance title on Saturday at the Powell Athletic Center on the Campbellsville (Ky.) campus.
The Blue Raiders scored 92.5 points and earned a bronze bid to compete at the NAIA Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla., in April. This was the first year Lindsey Wilson competed in the regional dance championships.
"I'm very proud of our squad and their performance," Lindsey Wilson cheerleading and dance coach Damon Hicks said. "This first place is a true testament to their hard work and dedication to the team and the routine."
Cumberlands (Ky.) finished second in the small dance category with a score of 88.
Lindsey Wilson's Brenna Murray and Samantha Harris each earned All-American bids for their efforts during their performance. The bids were handed out by the panel of judges.
In the cheerleading competition, Campbellsville captured the small coed division while Martin Methodist (Tenn.) won the large coed division. The Lindsey Wilson cheerleading squad did not participate in the regional competition.
The Lindsey Wilson cheerleading team participates in the Mid-South Conference championships at 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Ky.
