COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson opens the 2013 season ranked No. 4 in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Tuesday.
The No. 4 ranking is the highest preseason ranking for the Blue Raiders in the program's history.
The Blue Raiders -- who finished 19-6 last season --received 245 voting points from the national raters.
Lindsey Wilson trails only top-ranked Embry-Riddle (Fla.), Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) and Vanguard (Calif.) in the poll.
Embry-Riddle received 279 voting points and eight of the 11 first-place votes to lead the poll. AUM picked up 271 voting points and two first-place votes while Vanguard garnered 265 voting points and the final first-place vote.
Lindsey Wilson reached the second round of the last season's national championships and returns five of its top six players from that national tournament team.
A panel of coaches representing the conferences, unaffiliated groups and the independents serve at the national raters. The next national poll is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
The Blue Raiders open their season at Eastern Kentucky at 2 p.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 21 in Richmond, Ky.
