CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's cross country team signed Candace Young to a NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Tuesday.
Young, a Campbellsville, Ky., native, will join the Blue Raiders in the 2007-08 school year.
"Candace has the personality of the team; positive, enthusiastic about life, and academically sound," Lindsey Wilson cross country coach Edwin Hagans said. "She is used to my style of coaching and she is willing to work hard throughout the summer to find her position on the cross country team."
Young was the 2006-07 MVP of the Taylor County cross country team. She was also the most improved in her senior year.
"I knew I wanted to attend and compete at Lindsey Wilson College." Young said. "I plan to learn to run on pace and not with people."
"Candace is excited and anxious to explore new events in track and field without limitations," Hagans said. "The Lindsey Wilson College cross country team is honored to be a part of her future."
The Lindsey Wilson College cross country team finished first in the MSC Cross Country Championships and second in the NAIA Region XI championships in November.
