Amanda Johnson finished sixth at national meet.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Lindsey Wilson College sophomore Amanda Johnson finished sixth on Saturday at the USA Track and Field 5K Race Walk Championships.

The Morganfield, Ky., native, set a program record with a time of 26 minutes and 59 seconds, besting her own record of 27:15. Johnson -- who is a two-time NAIA Race Walk All-American -- finished second in the junior (19 years and under) division.

Former University of Wisconsin-Parkside student-athlete Samantha Cohen won the event with a new course record of 23:39.
 

Johnson -- who is also a member of the LWC women’s cross country -- returns to action with her teammates on Friday, October 12, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Wilmington (Ohio) College Invitational.
