Lindsey Wilson kicks off 2012 season at Kentucky Christian on Aug. 25.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College football begins its third season just outside the 2012 NAIA Football Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll, NAIA officials announced Monday.

The Blue Raiders are one of four teams to miss the national ranking but receive votes from the panel of coaches that makes up the national raters. Lindsey Wilson garnered 10 voting points -- just six voting points from the No. 25 ranking.

Following a 7-3 record in 2011, the Blue Raiders earned the program's first-ever national ranking in the NAIA Football Coaches' Spring Top-25 Poll in April. Lindsey Wilson was No. 25 in that poll.

Since, Lindsey Wilson has moved to the MSC West Division -- where three nationally ranked teams reside.

Overall, Lindsey Wilson is one of six Mid-South Conference teams to receive voting points in the poll.

Georgetown College (209 voting points) is the top ranked MSC team at No. 4, followed by Bethel University (140) in a tie at No. 11. University of the Cumberlands (62) is No. 19, Cumberland University (53) is tied for No. 22 and Campbellsville University (16) is No. 25.

Defending NAIA national champion Saint Xavier (Ill.) University is the unanimous No. 1 with 236 voting points and all 11 first-place votes. Carroll (Mont.) College is No. 2 with 227 voting points and Marian (Ind.) University is No. 3 with 217 voting points.

Lindsey Wilson kicks off its 2012 season at 12:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 25, as the Blue Raiders travel to Kentucky Christian University. Lindsey Wilson's 2012 home opener is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 1 at Blue Raider Stadium.
