Shawnee State is the preseason favorite with eight of the 11 first-place votes

MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College women's cross-country is picked to finish sixth at the Mid-South Conference Championship in the MSC Preseason Coaches' Poll, released Friday morning by league officials.

The Blue Raiders received 58 voting points in the poll, while Shawnee State (Ohio) grabbed favorite status with 97 points and eight of the 11 first-place votes. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team.

Lindsey Wilson was voted one spot below its finish at the 2011 MSC Championship where it was fifth. The Blue Raiders open the season on Aug. 31 at the Shawnee State Invitational in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Rounding out the top three in the preseason poll behind the Bears was Cumberlands (Ky.) in second with 91 points and two first-place votes and Georgetown (Ky.) in third with 79 points and the last first-place nod.

The 2012 MSC Championship is hosted by Rio Grande (Ohio) on Nov. 3 at its athletic fields in Rio Grande, Ohio.
