Blue Raiders look to improve upon national fourth-place finish in 2011-12

2012-13 Schedule

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Coming off the best season in program history, Lindsey Wilson College head wrestling coach Corey Ruff is excited to get going in 2012-13 and released the upcoming schedule on Friday afternoon.

Keeping with tradition, the Blue Raiders will officially start the journey on Oct. 26 with the Blue and White Dual inside Biggers Sports Center, giving local fans a preview of the new and returning wrestlers.

The official start of the regular season is set for Nov. 10 in East Lansing, Mich., at the Michigan State Open. The Blue Raiders open at home with a tri-match against NCAA Div. II programs Newberry (S.C.) College and the University of Indianapolis (Ind.) on Nov. 28.

While the first Mid-South Conference opponent on the schedule is Cumberlands (Ky.) in Williamsburg, Ky., on Nov. 20, the Blue Raider' annual rivalry match with Campbellsville (Ky.) is set for Feb. 5 in Campbellsville.

Those two MSC foes represent three teams on the schedule that were ranked in the Postseason NAIA Coaches' Top-20 Poll. Campbellsville led the way at No. 3, one spot in front of the Blue Raiders, while Cumberlands was just outside the top 10 at No. 13. Indiana Tech visits Biggers Sports Center on Feb. 1 and was ranked 17th in the final poll.

Other highlights on the schedule include a return to the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA) National Duals on Jan. 12-13 in Springfield, Ill., and a road dual at NCAA Div. I Michigan State on Jan. 6.

The NAIA National Championships, where Lindsey Wilson finished a program-best fourth last season and had an individual national champion, return to Des Moines, Iowa in the Jacobson Exhibition Center on March 1-2.
