Blue Raiders set to play defending national champion and national runner-up in 2012.

2012 Schedule

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's soccer will be well traveled through the first half of the 2012 season, followed by a bevy of home action to end the year as seen in the schedule released by Blue Raider head coach Drew Burwash Tuesday morning.

Highlighted by seven home dates at Walter S. Reuling Stadium and five games against teams from last season's NAIA National Championship field, Lindsey Wilson looks to improve on last year's national-quarterfinal finish.

The home slate begins with the season opener at 7 p.m. CT on Aug. 25 against Spring Arbor (Mich.) which lost in the second round at nationals in 2011. After trips to invitationals in Portland, Ore., and Cleveland, Tenn., Lindsey Wilson doesn't return home until Sept. 19 against first-year Mid-South Conference member Bluefield (Va.).

Regular-season conference play begins a day before the Bluefield game at St. Catharine (Ky.) on Sept. 18. The next home contest is against the other new MSC program Cumberland (Tenn.) on Sept. 25.

Invitational play includes games against Embry-Riddle (Fla.) and national runner-up Concordia (Ore.) in Portland on Aug. 31-Sept. 2 and defending national champion Lee (Tenn.) and Vanguard (Calif.) in Cleveland on Sept. 13-15.

The Blue Raiders open October on the road at Georgetown (Ky.) on Oct. 3, followed by a trip to Cumberlands (Ky.) on Oct. 6. Campbellsville (Ky.) visits Columbia, Ky., on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.

In the final two games of the season the Blue Raiders step outside of conference play against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) on Oct. 26 and Auburn-Montgomery (Ala.) on Oct. 30.

The five opponents that qualified for the 2011 NAIA National Championship include Spring Arbor, Embry-Riddle, Concordia, Lee and Martin Methodist.

Postseason play continues at home for the Blue Raiders as they host the Mid-South Conference Tournament at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. Quarterfinal games are played at campus sites with the semifinals and finals playing out in Columbia.

NAIA National Championship opening round games kick off on Nov. 17 at campus sites with the remainder of the championship played out from Nov. 26-Dec. 1 at the Orange Beach Sportsplex in Orange Beach, Ala.
