Ronoh named a second-team academic All-American after posting multiple All-American honors throughout the year
TOWSON, Md. -- Sharon Ronoh of Lindsey Wilson was selected to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America College Division Women's Cross Country/Track & Field Team, as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Capital One College Division Academic All-America Women's Cross Country/Track & Field team is comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
Three 15-member teams were chosen for a first, second and third team. Ronoh is a second-team selection after posting a 3.34 GPA as a Nursing major.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their sports information director.
Ronoh was a two-time All-American at this past season's NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. The senior finished third in the 5,000-meter run and third in the 10,000-meter run.
Earlier in the year at the NAIA Cross County National Championship, Ronoh added another All-American honor with a top-10 finish. It was the first cross-county All-American for Lindsey Wilson since 2006 as Ronoh crossed the finish in 17 minutes and 57 seconds.
