Sharon Ronoh finishes third in the women's 5,000-meter run at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships

MARION, Ind. -- Sharon Ronoh took a spot on the podium once again, finishing third in the women's 5,000-meter run at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships on Saturday at the Indiana Wesleyan Outdoor Track Facility.

Ronoh also finished third on Thursday in the 10,000-meters, giving her two All-American earning finishes at the championships. All competitors earning points in an event are eligible for All-American honors this season.

Crossing the finish line in 17 minutes and 50.46 seconds, Ronoh was within 35 seconds of the win. Lauren Jimison from Azusa Pacific (Calif.) won the race in 17:28.34 and California St. San Marcos' Suzanne Cornwell was second with a time of 17:35.65.

The Blue Raider women added six points with Ronoh's finish, giving them 18 total team points to finish tied for 15th place overall. Okalhoma Baptist captured the team title with 101.5 points.

Lindsey Wilson's men had two All-Americans in the 5,000-meter race walk in Ricardo and Roberto Vergara to finish with five total team points. The score puts them in a tie for 45th place overall. Shorter (Ga.) earned the team championship with 93 points.

The Blue Raiders end the 2012 championships with five All-American awards from entries in five different events. The list includes Ronoh (5,000m-run, 10,000m-run), Roberto Vergara (5,000m-race walk), Ricardo Vergara (5,000m-race walk) and Reini Brickson (5,000m-race walk).
